Lime is a great bug repellent. It can work on mosquitoes, ants, lice, and flies. If you’re heading into the evening and the sun is setting, then a good mix for a bug repellent spray would be 5 drops Lime, 5 drops Citronella, and 5 drops Lemongrass with 30 ml of distilled water in a spray bottle and mist it on your skin and clothes. (Remember: most citrus oils are photosensitive, meaning they can cause skin pigmentation when exposed to the sun. Therefore, during the daytime, a mix of Lemongrass (not photosensitive), Lavender, and Patchouli with distilled water would be a better combination.)
It works on head lice too! Use a combination of 3 drops Lime and 3 drops Eucalyptus mixed with a tablespoon of coconut oil and then work it into the hair. Comb out and rinse after 10 minutes.
Lime is a powerful disinfectant and antibacterial essential oil and will blend well in your homemade cleaners.
It blends well with many other oils including Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cinnamon Bark, Clove Bud, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Pine, Lemon, and Tea Tree.
