The use of Clove dates back thousands of years and it was used for its fragrance and as a spice. We love the aroma of this essential oil and we use it often in many different blends. Clove is a strong and versatile oil that has many applications.

Clove is a strong antioxidant, and has significant anti-microbial, bactericidal, and fungicidal effects. One study showed it outperformed even fluoride in slowing dental erosion.

Clove can alleviate potential side effects for those who may be taking chemotherapy. One side effect of chemo is mouth sores. Mixing 2 drops of Clove and 2 drops of Peppermint with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (as a carrier oil) and then swooshing the mixture in your mouth for 15 to 20 minutes once daily can potentially stop mouth sores from occurring. It is referred to often as oil pulling. It gives you a very clean mouth and can even help alleviate nausea and prevent cavities. Some say it can even whiten your teeth!
